The Mall Group plans to spend 1
billion baht this year on a major facelift for two of its shopping-centre
brands: The Mall and Siam Paragon.
Some 400 million baht each is slated
for renovating both The Mall Ngam Wong Wan and Bang Kae.
The remaining 200 million baht will
be spent at Siam Paragon and The Mall Bang Kapi.
Vice-chairman Supaluck Umpujh said The Mall Bang Kapi
will be made more trendy to serve customer lifestyles in the area.
The group plans to bring more international brands to the
Bang Kapi branch to service customers' higher purchasing power. High-end
fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton will be added at Siam Paragon along with Kidsania,
an education centre for kids.
The Mall Ngam Wong Wan will expand its retail space by 40,000 square metres, bringing its total to 240,000
sq m.
Ms Supaluck said total sales at The Mall department
stores were better than expected last year, despite its Bang Kae branch closing
for over one month for the floods.
"We expect total revenue of 50 billion baht this year, up from 44
billion last year," she said.
Ms Supaluck added that the retail industry expects
promising growth this year.
